Mriya (Dream) Wool Bed / Couch Runner - Style B

Regular price $22500

Description

It's hard to look away from the dreamy Mriya. The detail in the border weaving is incredible, and the dynamic shapes in Chili, Moss, Pumpkin, and Moss pop against a backdrop of Bisquit. We especially love this piece as a bed runner or over a couch.

Our Carpathian Mountain collection is brought to you by artisans in the mountains of western Ukraine—and the cutest, fluffiest sheep on the planet.

We've teamed up with a local group of women to create a collection of products made with the same weaving techniques they've been using for hundreds of years. Each item is handcrafted from 100% Carpathian sheep’s wool—which means you're getting a special product that’s rarely found outside of the region.

The best part is that our partnership with these weavers provides them with a comfortable, livable income. Our craftsmen are paid nearly four times the average Ukrainian minimum wage and are considered partners in our enterprise. So are the sheep (although they prefer to work for straw and small leafy plants).

The art of making woolen blankets is an essential part of Ukrainian heritage. Ukrainian women and children would work together to weave these distinctive textiles, and the tradition continues to this day in Karpaty (“Carpathian Mountains” in Ukrainian). When you buy one of these blankets, you're getting a one-of-a-kind handwoven item that features colorways and patterns found exclusively in that mountain region.

Due to the handcrafted nature of this item, expect slight variations in the appearance of each unique piece. By the way, Carpathian sheep are happy because they roam free, which means they sometimes get straw and flowers into their coats. So, if you find a small piece of straw in the wool, feel free to pick it out—although, why would you want to? Consider it a small gift from a fluffy friend.
